You’ll Never Run (Out of Beer) with the Deschutes Brewery x Brooks “Run Hoppy” Collection

The only thing harder than running is running out of beer, so Brooks has partnered with Deschutes Brewery for a hop-filled “Run Hoppy” collection. Besides coming up with a clever play on Brooks’ “Run Happy” tagline, the Pacific Northwest neighbors have crafted a special take on the popular Ghost 14 running shoe plus a set of performance apparel — and Deschutes has even brewed a special beer for the occasion.Brooks’ Ghost 14 is normally known for its lightweight build and smooth, responsive cushioning, but here what’s even more enthralling than its performance features is how it’s adorned. Its black upper is covered in beer (figuratively, not literally) thanks to an all-over print of full, foamy growlers, mugs and pint glasses. A large golden strike runs through the middle, and white midsoles serve up both cushion and contrast. T-shirts and other apparel add to the beer theme with a custom can graphic that shows spilled beer forming a Brooks logo.As mentioned above, Deschutes has also brewed a special IPA for its Bend, OR and Portland, OR pubs dubbed “Run Hoppy Golden.” Created with feedback from runners who were asked to describe the perfect post-run beer, “Run Hoppy Golden” features a classic carb taste with notes of biscuits, crackers and a dollop of honey, plus a low alcohol content so the drinker won’t feel weighed down. The Deschutes Brewery x Brooks “Run Hoppy” Collection is available now via the Brooks webstore, and “Run Hoppy Golden” will be on tap at the above-mentioned pubs come August 9.Looking for more running shoe news? PRO-Keds Re-Launches the Classic Super Sneaker with Sustainable Materials

PRO-Keds first released its Super sneaker back in 1969, and the low-top canvas design with a thick rubber sole quickly caught on in New York — becoming so popular, in fact, it was nicknamed the “Uptowner” more than a decade before the Air Force 1 was dubbed the “Uptown.” in the ’80s. Now, in 2021, the Super sneaker is back again but with a decidedly modern twist: sustainable materials. Five different builds are used on the shoes. There’s a recycled, unbleached canvas, rugged recycled denim and a recycled canvas with a vintage floral print, plus an ecologically conscious vachetta leather and a sustainably made suede. Save for the floral print, many of the uppers feature a monochromatic, no-frills look that retains the Super sneaker’s classic ethos. Interested parties can expect the PRO-Keds Super sneaker’s sustainable lineup to begin its rollout on August 6 via the PRO-Keds webstore and select global retail partners. Prices start at $65 USD for canvas pairs and run up to $90 USD for the leather-based pair. Nike Flips the Air Max Plus’ Most Famous Style for New “Reverse Sunset” Colorway

When Nike designer Sean McDowell first conceptualized the Air Max Plus, he was inspired by how palm trees swayed in the Florida evening breeze. Combining that inspiration with a vibrant orange and red color scheme, McDowell created a cult-favorite Air Max silhouette and built its most famous makeup, namely the Air Max Plus “Sunset.” It’s been 23 years since the “Sunset” was first released in 1998, but Nike Sportswear is keeping its legacy alive with a new “Reverse Sunset” makeup that provides a flipped take on the OG “Sunset” stylings.Where the original “Sunset” featured an ombre-style red and orange mesh upper with wavy black overlays, the “Reverse Sunset” uses a black mesh upper and moves the ombre orange and red fades to the overlays themselves. Red Swooshes add a little extra flair to the midfoot, and signature yellow TN badges — the embellishment that provides the shoe with its “TN” moniker — return on tongue and heel alike. Rubberized black mudguards and heel pieces add new texture to the mix, with white midsoles holding orange Air Max units and a red midfoot shank finalizing the look. The Nike Air Max Plus “Reverse Sunset” will hit retailers in the coming weeks. Its MSRP is set at $160 USD.For more Swoosh news, be sure to take a look at the Dunk High Rebel’s new “Varsity Maize” and “Summit White” colorways.
