Barriers Worldwide Teams up With Converse for Capsule Collection
For Converse, collaborations are now a part of its DNA. Whether it be colorful takes on new silhouettes with the likes of Tyler, the Creator or futuristic looks from A-COLD-WALL*, Converse continues to explore the possibilities of collaboration. Now, it looks to Barriers Worldwide which operates as a NYC-based brand that seeks to educate through style. The duo is launching a collection that details a historical journey, offering a voice to those that don’t have one. Drawing inspiration from The North Star, a 19th-century anti-slavery newspaper, the collection utilizes a star motif as a link to the story behind the capsule. The range includes both footwear and apparel options. Starting off with the collaborative sneakers, the Chuck 70 and Pro Leather each carry unique looks that feature vibrant contrast laces paired with cowrie shell lace dubraes. The shells were a universal form of currency that was especially relevant in ancient African societies. In addition, apparel options are comprised of a t-shirt, shorts and hoodie. Each piece utilizes Barriers branded elements and the star motif.Release for the Barriers x Converse collection is set for July 21 via Barriers, Converse and select retailers worldwide. The pricing breakdown starts at $55 USD for the t-shirt, $85 USD for the shorts and $120 USD for the hoodie. Both the Chuck 70 and Pro Leather are priced at $110 USD.In other footwear news, Tyler, the Creator’s label GOLF WANG has reconnected with Converse on the Chuck 70 Owl.
Detailed Look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Twist 2.0”
Jordan Brand has a tendency to bring back the general feel of past colorways to modernized makeups by executing minor design elements. And that’s certainly the case for the upcoming Air Jordan 1 High OG “Twist 2.0” which is arriving in the coming months as a follow-up to the first Air Jordan 1 High OG “Twist” iteration that was released back in 2019.The main resemblance between both pairs is that they both lean on soft pony hair textures that are dyed in black to texturize elements such as the Swooshes, overlays and ankle flaps. Color-blocking for this updated installment goes in a slightly more toned-down direction. Instead of the white accents that were found on the collars, quarters and toe boxes, Jordan Brand drapes these panels with more of a lighter gray hue. In addition, the ball-and-wings insignias that rest on the collars are spruced up with metallic silver exteriors to supply a plated look.Check out a detailed view of the kicks above and anticipate these to drop later down the road. For other footwear news, the Air Jordan 1 Utility “Quai 54” has been revealed.
