Nike’s Sustainable Space Hippie 01 Lifts Off in “Melon Tint” and “Obsidian” Colorways

Nike’s sustainable Space Hippie line is bolstering its ranks with two vibrant new colorways of the Space Hippie 01: “Melon Tint” and “Obsidian.” The Swoosh affectionately describes its Space Hippie models as “trash,” and it’s a blunt but accurate description: each is made of at least 25% recycled content by weight, with uppers crafted from “Space Waste Yarn,” which uses roughly 75% recycled polyester material produced from PET bottles, T-shirts, and thread waste. Below, midsoles are constructed from renewable Crater Foam. “Trash” has never looked so good. Each shoe features a knit upper with a slightly squiggly Swoosh, a bricolage-style lacing system and a midsole flecked with foam scraps. The “Melon Tint” uses a light brown tone for its base, dresses its Swooshes in soft reddish-orange, equips more reddish-orange and a light blue on the laces and eyestays and cools things down with navy and red heel tabs. Its look is completed by a soft orange midsole. On the other hand, the “Obsidian” offers darker shades. Uppers are done up in an eponymous dark blue hue, while the lateral Swoosh mixes two blue shades and the medial Swoosh brings forest green into the equation. Laces combine light blue, orange, navy and green with heel tabs supplying a final dash of green style. Natural bone-colored outsoles round off the look. Both the “Melon Tint” and the “Obsidian” are set to release via the Nike webstore and retailers like 43einhalb on April 23. The MSRP is set at $130 USD.For more footwear news check out the 28th installment of Sole Mates, in which Joe La Puma discusses the Air Jordan 4.

Japanese Restaurant PIZZA SLICE Cooks up Minimal Reebok Club C

Japanese pizza preferences differ greatly from American palettes, with most of the island nation’s pizza stylings served Italian-style, with an emphasis on small, doughy margherita pizzas in favor of giant New York slices. PIZZA SLICE is thus a rarity, slinging beefy 20″ pies and even single slices — especially uncommon in Japan — from its Tokyo outposts. To commemorate the chain’s ongoing success, founder Hiroki Sarumaru has rejoined Reebok for a special, low-key twist on the Club C sneaker.Back in September 2019, PIZZA SLICE linked with Reebok for a custom T-shirt but this is the duo’s first sneaker partnership.Like 1LDK’s recent Club C, the PIZZA SLICE collab centers around a subtle revision of the classic Reebok silhouette, gracing the premium leather and canvas uppers with a pale, cheese-inspired hue for a tonal finish. More unique are the branded insoles and tongue — now printed with verbiage like “WE ARE NOT JUST A” and “PIZZERIA SLICE OF YOUR LIFE” — and the lateral side Reebok window, which now sports matching PIZZA SLICE branding.PIZZA SLICE’s restaurants, atmos, Reebok’s ZOZOTOWN page and its Japanese stores will launch the exclusive Club C on April 16 for ¥13,200 JPY (approximately $120 USD). New Balance 327 Revealed With “Sea Salt/Black” and “Magnet/Team Red” Palettes

Since New Balance introduced the 327 to the sneaker community through a collection alongside Casablanca in April 2020, the silhouette itself has gained a sizable amount of popularity and gone full force in terms of pushing out more collaborations and in-line makeups. The model is now aiming to beef up its 2021 portfolio with two new iterations entitled the “Sea Salt/Black” and the “Magnet/Team Red”.The “Sea Salt” variant is the more versatile option of the bunch as it comes produced with grayscale hues exclusively. This pair’s primary titular shade is applied to the tongues and canvas bases, while the suede overlays are filled in with a foggy gray. Black accents are dropped off on the NB tongue logos and lateral side N logos while the New Balance spell out on the lower medial wall is embroidered in white. Its release partner — the “Magnet/Team Red” proposal — is reliant on darker tones for styling. Canvas uppers that comprise most of the upper are painted in its titular shade, and come color-blocked with charcoal gray overlays. Doses of white are shown off through the laces, tongues and medial side branding while the lateral N logos are dripped in “Team Red”.Both pairs are available now via the New Balance website for $90 USD each. For more footwear news, New Balance’s X-Racer recently released in a “Marblehead” colorway.
