adidas’ “Screaming Orange” Adizero Adios Pro Given an Official Launch Date

With miserable winter running (hopefully) done and dusted until later in the year, it’s time for runners to begin planning their summer jaunts. As leggings and thermals are replaced with shorts and T-shirts, a new sun-ready pair of runners fit for the occasion might top the wish list. After debuting its Adizero Adios Pro in a “Signal Coral” colorway last year — before “Sunrise Bliss” and “Dream Mile” followed soon after — adidas Running returns for 2021 with an all-new “Screaming Orange” colorway of the world record-breaking sneaker.Flexible, breathable and lightweight, the Adizero Adios Pro boasts a “Screaming Orange” Celermesh upper that sits atop a Lightstrike Pro foam midsole. Returning energy with every stride, the midsole houses carbon-infused rods and a carbon heel plate, alongside optimal cushioning.Designed for faster, longer runs, the Adizero Adios Pro has already proven its worth by breaking a handful of world records, including a 57 minute 32 second half-marathon in Valencia last year. Now in its fourth iteration, the Adizero Adios Pro “Screaming Orange” is set to launch on March 1 via the adidas webstore and will retail at £170 (approximately $240 USD).In other sneaker news, Nike has given its Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% a crisp “Hyper Turquoise” makeover.

Nike Serves up a Deliciously Buttery Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage “Popcorn”

Earlier this month, Nike told its design team to really let their creative juices flow and the result was the hugely popular Air Force 1 “Popcorn.” Now, the sportswear giant continues the theme with its latest Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage, once more buttering up the pair in more than just one way with a similar “Popcorn” makeover in a “White/Coconut Milk” colorway.Firstly, the “White/Coconut Milk” colorway that adorns the premium and incredibly buttery leather used on the Blazer is a different shade to the “Coconut Milk” hue on the AF1. Here, it appears in a blue tone, but that’s no bother as it only adds to the retro theme that details the pair and bring in its familiar “Popcorn” touches. For example, Nike’s “Fresh Since ’77” slogan acts as a double entendre and appears in cursive metallic gold stamped lettering on the lateral rear-quarter, while other retro touches come in the form of a tongue tag that looks like a bag of popcorn, sitting well against the exposed foam tongue.Chrome red embroidery reading off Nike’s moniker on the creamy leather heel tab is yet another retro touch, and leads the eye back round to the similarly-toned Swoosh where you’ll notice a golden popcorn pendant handing from the eyelets. Once more, this premium detail is joined by other luxe touches such as the cream laces that run over the tongue.Unlike its accompanying AF1, the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage “Popcorn” is set to be a bit easier to cop — however, by no means will this pair sit. The sneaker is set to release on March 9 at retailers such as Asphalt Gold, and will be priced at €109 EUR (approx. $132 USD). Take a closer look at the pair above. For more daring Nike shoes, check out the ISPA Road Warrior in all its glory in the latest installment of Sole Mates, which this time around features sneaker and product designer Mr. Bailey.

Balenciaga Upgrades Its Signature Sock-Inspired Speed Trainer

Following last month’s release of its football jersey-inspired graphic iteration, Balenciaga continues to grow its footwear reach with the newest addition to the Speed Trainer line — aptly titled the Speed 3.0.The latest upgrade to Demna Gvasalia’s signature sock-like silhouette sees it hit with a clean, all-white glacier colorway just in time for the summer. This version’s main change sees the sneaker adopt a taller ankle for a tube-sock aesthetic. Continuing to keep to the textile knitted upper that we’re used to, the Speed 3.0 now possesses a deconstructed paneled design providing a frayed look towards the toe.Added texture on the ankle and midfoot treats the sneaker more like a sock than ever before. Minimal additions are implemented onto the shoe, black double “B” branding is woven on the lateral side of the ankle with “Speed 3.0” printed on its thick, cushioned midsole whilst the remainder keeps its all-white cleanliness.Balenciaga’s Speed 3.0 Trainer will be available to purchase via the brand’s official website on February 25 so keep a lookout for further release and pricing information. In more footwear news, we spoke to Charaf Tajer about his latest Casablanca collaboration with New Balance.
