While not officially declared by Nike, the footwear maker’s latest Air Force 1 provides a few cues that would suggest its colorway was inspired by the highly coveted Air Mags “Back To The Future.”First seen in 1989, in Back To The Future II, Marty McFly’s self-lacing sneakers have become a grail among grails for sneaker collectors and while this upcoming AF1 doesn’t feature any automated systems or lights, it does offer a nod to the pair based on colorway alone — at a fraction of the price as well.Details on the AF1 include light grey leather enveloping the entire silhouette against a backdrop of grey ripstop material and lightly textured grey laces. Touches of white are found on the logo, heel cap, and rubber midsole atop a semi-translucent outer sole. Finishing touches that call to the original “Back To The Future” pair include teal color branding at the midsole, insole and tongue of the shoe.Full release details have not yet been shared by Nike at the time of writing, although, the pair is expected to launch in the coming months on its official site.In other footwear news, see official images of the Air Jordan 1 Low Sashiko.

Update: Earlier this year, a preview of a “Sashiko”-themed pair of Air Jordan 1 Lows popped up. The Japanese needlework technique is referenced throughout the pair’s unique stitching that reaches from the toe to the heel. Elsewhere, the midsole bears a similar aged aesthetic with inconsistent yellowing across its presentation. A firm release date for the pair has not yet been announced, however, it’s expected to land on shelves in the coming months via Nike and select retailers.Original Story: The Air Jordan 1 Low is the latest Nike silhouette to receive the “Sashiko” treatment. Embodying the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi, upcoming pairs feature white canvas and distressed denim uppers with exposed stitching stretching over the raw-hemmed overlay panels.Jordan ball-and-wing logos are embroidered on the heel and black tumbled leathers are used for the lateral Swoosh and heel counter. Cork insoles feature mismatched graphics and debossed Jumpman logos decorate the tongue tab. Leather gray overlays are offset by a brown hairy suede base. A darker brown hue appears at the rough suede Swooshes while the mudguard leverages a corduroy finish. Hemp enters the mix at the tongue while the heel features debossed Air Max branding to complete the look.Look for this brown colorway of the Nike Air Max 1 to become available exclusively via size? later this year.
