Luxury, streetwear, and sneaker worlds have never been more interconnected, and much of the hype has been centered around brands combining their two aesthetics to create coveted collaborations — such as Prada x adidas, or the fabled Dior x Air Jordan. However, whereas the latter catapulted resale prices to new, astronomical heights, Prada and adidas Originals’ efforts have remained understated and under the radar — until now.The upcoming Forum collaboration takes quintessential elements of both brands and blends them together for the most wearable and creative pair to release thus far. By mixing Prada’s signature Re-Nylon — a sustainable take on regular nylon that’s made by recycling and purifying plastic taken from oceans, fishing nets, landfills, and textile fiber waste — with premium leather, the shoes are undeniably Pradidas’ most luxurious to date.Yet, the familiar Forum Low silhouette, which has been increasingly pushed as the Three Stripes’ hero sneaker in 2021 and into 2022, brings the pair back to reality. The retro shapes remain, but appear elevated in the aforementioned materials, while further nods to Prada continue to dignify this offering.Sitting on top of the tongue is a detachable pouch, that is of course made from Re-Nylon, proudly sporting Prada’s emblematic triangular logo plaque on the front and another branded badge inside, accessed via the chrome zipper that runs around the bag’s perimeter. Lastly, “Prada Milano” branding graces the very top of the tongue in rubberized block capitals, while inside the shoe you’ll find the two collaborators’ monikers side by side. Both previous Prada x adidas collaborations and this one have garnered comments (from our own readers) stating “Pradidas is adidas with a Prada price tag.” For the Forum collaboration, this might not be the case, as the attention to detail that’s been spent on taking the humble Forum to the next level is second-to-none; simply, no one will think these are just another Forum.Prada and adidas are yet to announce the release dates and prices of the Forum collaboration, but expect them to drop in the coming weeks. For now, take a closer look at the pair above.
