PJ Tucker and Dolce & Gabbana Unveil Miami Sneaker Collaboration
Anyone can claim that they’re a sneakerhead, but if we’re measuring by pure volume and overall rarity, few have quite the collection like PJ Tucker. He’s dabbled into the realm of sneaker collaborations before as he dropped a special Kobe 5 Protro PE with Nike in 2020, but now he’s venturing into the luxury footwear space for a two-piece Miami capsule with Dolce & Gabbana. The scrappy Milwaukee Bucks small forward and the Italian luxury label have crafted two iterations of the lifestyle model, one of which is a bold “Sicilian Orange” makeup. Upper halves are completely built with a premium suede and come drenched in its nominal tone. Bright yellow accents follow suit by dropping onto the skate shoe-esque laces, the Dolce and Gabbana banner on the mid-foot and Tucker’s signature on the tongues and heels. Semi-chunky midsoles — that are reminiscent of Rihanna’s PUMA Creepers — are also painted in orange and come styled with ribbed textures at the heels and forefoot and a smooth block in the middle. The second iteration in this pack falls on more neutral side of the color wheel. Most of the suede uppers are coated with a dusty brown tone at the mid-foot while various shades of beige overlays sit adjacent. Tucker’s signatures also land in the same spots but come stitched in white. Down below, the sole units keep the tonal motif going by also getting outfitted in beige.“Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have always shown me nothing but love”, PJ Tucker says. “Their support of me and their trust in me throughout this process has been incredible. Collaborating on the design of this sneaker has been amazing and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.”100 pairs signed by P. J. Tucker that are also paired to an exclusive NFT are available now on the Dolce and Gabbana site. For more footwear news, more images of the Off-White™ X Air Jordan 2 Low in black have popped up.
Detailed Look at the Off-White™ X Air Jordan 2 Low in Black
Between his SS22 “Amen Break” runway show for Louis Vuitton, his bootleg-inspired Louis Vuitton Air Force 1s and the upcoming release of his Off-White™ X Air Jordan 2 Low collaborations, Virgil Abloh has been all over the headlines in June. Now, we’ve been given a detailed look at his aforementioned Air Jordan 2 Low — namely its black and blue colorway.A somewhat under-the-radar silhouette from the early days of Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan line, the low-cut Air Jordan 2 served as an apt counterpart to its high-cut “big brother” by providing a sleek, crisp and luxurious look with pebbled and smooth leathers alike. Here, Abloh has retained all of that original flair but added some signature Off-White™ details like Helvetica text on the medial quarter and a large yellow ziptie attached to the punchy coral laces, themselves adorned with Helvetica hits. The shoe’s key details, however, are Michael Jordan’s “signature” on the lateral midfoot in silver and the “crumbling” midsole, equipped with a trompe l’oeil print that makes it look as if it’s an unearthed artifact from 1986. Finishing touches are supplied by black and blue outsoles, blue details on the upper like a ball-and-wings tongue badge and exposed foam collars. At the time of writing, an official release date for the Off-White™ X Air Jordan 2 Low in black has yet to be announced. However, early reports indicate that it may release on September 23. Its MSRP has yet to be determined. For more news on upcoming sneaker releases, take a look at the latest installment of HYPEBEAST’s weekly Best Footwear Drops series.
