Unlike other New Balance models like the 327 and the 990v3 which have been capturing our attention for its collaborations, the New Balance 1500 has made its presence felt this year through its bevy of GR launches. After joining the “Desert Scape Pack”, the Made in UK model has now been manufactured in new teal and black colorway that draws from black sand beaches in Iceland.During the colder seasons, chunks of ice tend to show up on the European country’s black sand beaches and these appear with a striking teal glow. This element of nature is directly translated onto this 1500 through the suede mudguards that arrive dyed in black — to of course represent the sand — while the minty teal mid-foot paneling and “N” logos can be interpreted as the solid ice. Neighboring these sections is an aegean shading that touches the tongues and collars, as well as grey mesh toe boxes and crisp white laces, forefoot overlays and tongue branding.
