Of all the movie moments in Hollywood history featuring kicks, there’s one that absolutely any sneakerhead can relate to.
Sure, we’ve all stared in amazement at a fresh pair as we unbox it, much like Tom Hanks did in Forrest Gump, or taken off running in basketball shoes, a la George of the Jungle.
But it’s the scene in Do The Right Thing, the 1989 Spike Lee joint where a dude in a Larry Bird shirsey scuffs character Buggin’ Out’s fresh new ‘White Cement’ Air Jordan 4s, that will have any sneakerhead cringing.
There are few things more devastating (from a materialistic standpoint, anyway) than suffering a scuff mark on your new pair.
Those White Cement AJ 4s were an OG colorway that we last saw a retro release of in 2016, complete with the Nike Air branding on the heel tabs.
There have been similarly dressed, predominantly white versions that have dropped since then, notably the “Do The Right Thing” pack that came complete with a stylized scuff, and the ‘Lucid Green’ edition that released in women’s sizing in 2020 and paid tribute to Jamaica Carnival.
I’m not trying to get your hopes up with rumors of another White Cement release, but this forthcoming AJ 4 retro edition may just satisfy your cravings for a while longer.
The Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Tech White’ brings crisp white summer-ready leather uppers to that 1989 silhouette we all know and love.
The iconic cement pattern is splattered on the Tech Grey lace guides and mudguards, while red stitching appears on Jumpman logos on the tongues and insoles.
Whether you’re in Bed-Stuy or Birmingham or anywhere in between, you’ll wanna step with care this summer because you don’t want a scuff on these fresh AJ 4s.
The Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Tech White’ releases in full family sizing on 7/3 at finishline.com and in stores.
We’ve recently partnered with Afterpay, giving you the option to cop now and pay over time. Take advantage and build the closet of your dreams.
