Vans has given the Old Skool and Authentic a “Black/Paisley” update for Spring/Summer 2021, bringing vibrant floral sprays to the heritage skateboarding models. The Vans shoes themselves are predominantly made from black canvas, with the Authentic being crafted entirely from canvas and the Old Skool featuring touches of suede on core structural components such as the toe box, eyestay placket, and heel section. The Old Skool also incorporates white leather into its design, taking over the Jazz stripe to cut through the middle of the shoe’s lateral and medial sides, while more white leather can be found lining the shoe’s interior. As for the paisley pattern, Vans opts for a modernized take on the antiquated design by using white stenciling. From here, small embroidered droplets have been added in colors such as green, red, orange, purple, and blue, with some serving as the background for Vans’ logo.On the vulcanized sole unit, Vans adds even more paisley in the form of black stamps that run around the perimeter of the midsole, intersecting with the red license plate found on both the Old Skool and the Authentic.Vans’ paisley pack can be seen above and purchased from retailers such as AFEW Store on July 2. The Old Skool costs €94.95 EUR (approx. $113 USD), while the Authentic is slightly cheaper at €84.95 EUR (approx. $101 USD).
