Vans Brings Back a ’90s Skate Favorite: the Style 57

Any brand with as many classic skate sneakers as Vans — the Sk8-Hi, Old Skool, Era, Authentic and Slip-On, to name a few — is bound to have a few cult favorites fall through the cracks. Thankfully, Vans is always hard at work keeping its extensive archive alive, and one of the latest models its unearthed for a second go-around is the Style 57. A skate sneaker from the early ’90s with unique contrast stitching, the Style 57 has returned in two colorways: a rich burgundy and an elegant black. Both pairs feature an upper built from supple suede, and add the aforementioned contrast stitching both on the midfoot and across the toebox. The latter placement is somewhat unusual in that it’s completely straight and seems to be entirely for decorative purposes. Eyestays are presented in gold on the burgundy pair and silver on the black pair, both of which are brought together by white laces. There’s also a small Vans tag hanging from the lateral collar on both models. Down below, the burgundy completes its look with a tonal white midsole while the black adds some flair with a sail midsole split by a signature foxing stripe. Each also features a rubberized red Vans badge on the back.Look for these black and burgundy takes on the Vans Style 57 to hit retailers like BILLY’s Tokyo on April 24. The MSRP for each pair is set at ¥ 9,900 JPY (approximately $92 USD), inclusive of tax.On the hunt for more sneaker news?
