While primarily known for engineering marathon-ready running models, ASICS makes it a point to back its lifestyle sneaker category with a considerable amount of energy every year. In recent memory, we’ve seen the Japanese sportswear brand produce projects with the likes of Bodega and unveil a forthcoming capsule with JJJJound, and now it has announced its GT-II collaboration with Up There.Floral elements from Australia and Japan take are the focus of this footwear initiative to symbolize a partnership that merges language barriers and bridges continents. Up There implements a crochet mesh upper that is fitted with tones of Pink Heath — a flower that is strongly associated with the retailer’s hometown of Victoria, Australia. Sitting adjacent to this comes a mix of dusted gray suedes atop the upper overlays and sage accents along the interior lining which are meant to translate Chrysanthemum leaves — the official flower of the Hyogo Prefecture.
