Footwear retailer YCMC loves the ’90s — so much, in fact, that its latest exclusive New Balance shoe is inspired by the decade. The New Balance 992 “Rewind,” a colorful take on a classic NB runner-turned-lifestyle silhouette, is a direct salute to ’90s hip-hop music, fashion and television, all of which were precursors to modern-day pop culture. As you might expect from a ’90s-inspired sneaker, the “Rewind” is awash in bright colors. Uppers start with a vivid aqua blue mesh base, then overlay it with a dash of purple leather accents. Rich black suede appears on the mudguard, heel and midfoot overlays for a dark contrast, and a touch of white leather hits the heel tab. Branding is mostly done up in metallic silver, with the midfoot’s N logo plus the 992 hits on tongues and heels alike boasting reflective material. Yellow is close on the midfoot and tongue as well: on the former spot it’s used for trim, on the latter it provides a text hit. Heel counters add pink into the mix on the midsole’s heel, and the forefoot’s ABZORB cushioning is presented in purple. The rest of the midsole is white, in stark contrast to the colorful upper. The insoles are arguably the most vibrant part of the “Rewind” with a joyful jumble of patterns and colors that are seemingly straight from the set of Yo! MTV Raps. Multiple lace options complete the offering. YCMC’s exclusive New Balance 992 “Rewind” will release on the YCMC webstore come June 17. Its MSRP is set at $180 USD.For more New Balance news, take a look at the popular 550 in white and green.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
