Yohji Yamamoto and adidas’ conceptual sportswear label Y-3 is turning 20 this year, and the celebrations are about to begin with the unveiling of the Y-3 Stan Smith.Debuting as part of the Fall/Winter 2023 collection — which also sees the return of Y’s for Men — the new Stan Smith collaboration differs from previous Y-3 efforts. That’s because past examples have fallen within the Y-3 Stan Smith Zip line, whereas this 20th anniversary-celebrating rendition takes after the iconic shoe through and through.Yohji Yamamoto updates to the sneaker include a premium, buttery-smooth white leather upper with a contrasting black leather tongue, here sporting Yohji’s face under the “Endorsed By:” scripture. Elsewhere, we find a black sole unit, Yohji Yamamoto branding in off white on the Trefoil-bearing heel, and Yohji Yamamoto’s signature stamped into the luxurious white leather insoles.Signature elements like the hole-punched Three Stripes, thick white flat laces, and a plush leather lining round out the pair.
