Call it a win-win-win. Soles4Souls’ acquisition of Erren Recondition, a European leader in footwear and apparel reconditioning, will expand the global nonprofit’s ability to help wholesalers and retailers extend product life, reduce waste, and create economic opportunity through scalable circular solutions. This acquisition strengthens Solutions4Good, Soles4Souls’ circular solutions platform, which provides brands with responsible pathways for sorting, reconditioning, recommerce, repurposing, and reuse.
Buddy Teaster, president and CEO of Soles4Souls, (pictured) says the combination of Soles4Souls’ global network and impact expertise with Erren’s decades of technical reconditioning leadership will enable the Nashville-based organization to create an integrated platform that keeps products in use longer while delivering measurable environmental and social outcomes.
“Based on the experience of the Erren team and the knowledge they’re bringing to the expansion of our Solutions4Good program, I don’t see any limit to what we’re able to do,” Teaster says, adding that the partnership includes apparel, which will open even more opportunities. “We know from Erren’s experience in Europe that there’s a meaningful increase in the amount of product that we can fix/repurpose that was previously being destroyed.” Teaster says. “Combining their expertise with our global mission allows us to create even more impactful solutions—helping partners reduce waste, deepen sustainability commitments, and create lasting economic opportunity.”
Erren Recondition, founded in 1980, is a leading specialist in high-quality reconditioning of shoes, clothing, and accessories. The company offers a wide range of services, including sorting, cleaning, washing, repairing, finishing, label corrections, quality control, and packaging. The company’s in-depth technical expertise ensures that products are made market-ready and do not have to be destroyed—a sustainable solution that creates both economic and ecological value.
Erren will continue operating in Europe as “Erren Recondition, a Soles4Souls company,” preserving its trusted brand and technical leadership in the region. In the U.K. and U.S., Soles4Souls will integrate Erren’s expertise directly into its operations, expanding its ability to deliver circular solutions through a unified global platform.
Teaster believes the recondition/recommerce market is good for consumers, resellers, and the environment, especially in a difficult economy like today’s. “Finding a way to get the most value out of every pair has never been more important,” he says, adding that a more diversified Soles4Souls is also good for the footwear industry. “We believe we can help companies make commercial and philanthropic decisions more easily and effectively by being a one-stop shop for them.”
