If a sneaker line of yours manages to stay alive for 30 years, you certainly have every right to celebrate. And that’s exactly what adidas is executing by commemorating three decades of its iconic EQT line by joining forces with retailers from around the world on special footwear collaborations. After traveling to Germany to unveil an Equipment CSG 91 makeup with Overkill, the adidas Consortium family is now connecting with Sneaker Politics for an Equipment Prototype Collab that’s inspired by the 1984 World Fair. For context, the 1984 event was the last World Fair Exposition, and it was also the first year to have a mascot. The mascot was a pelican named Seymore D. Fair, and his blue suit serves as the muse for this project. Mesh materials make up most of the upper half and come dyed in a baby blue hue to translate the bird’s aforementioned fit, while darker notes of blue spill onto the shaggy suede toe tips, zig-zag overlays on the quarters and interior liners. Pops of yellow also show face on the upper as they land on the pull tabs, heel branding and quarters, and the laces are done up in white with a feathered look to likely mimic the aesthetic of a bird. Additionally, the insoles split between a Consortium hit on the left shoe and co-branding on the right side.Mark your calendars for an October 9 release via Sneaker Politics, and note that a portion of the proceeds from this launch will be donated to Seymore’s Foundation.Elsewhere in the realm of sneakers, the adidas YEEZY BOOST 700 “Wash Orange” now has an official release date.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
