Sergio Tacchini’s “Livello Rosso” Collection Brings ’70s and ’80s Tennis Cues Into 2022

Sergio Tacchini has a penchant for nostalgia, capitalizing on its tennis heritage with recent collaborations with Yardsale, Brain Dead, or collections that honor the Monte Carlo Masters. Now, the Italian sportswear label has presented “Livello Rosso,” a new footwear collection that acts as a bridge between vintage tennis cues of the ’70s and ’80s and Sergio Tacchini’s contemporary output. For the collection, Sergio Tacchini presents the BB COURT LO and HI, the PURE COURT, the NEO RUNNER, and CUP SLIDE that come together to share the brand’s “contemporary court attitude” — something that has been emulated in the lookbook. Here, we find the footwear sit alongside some of the brand’s revived archival outfits, often pairing silhouettes with track tops and baggy pants for that quintessential off-court look.As for the shoes themselves, expect a combination of new and old, clean and classic, and innovation combined with timelessness. Take the BB COURT LO and HI, pairs that are made from premium materials such as leather or suede and are intersected with performance-focused fabrics. Across both the low-top and highs are a molded EVA outsole and TPU stabilizing heel, while hand-stitched details add a touch of Italian flair and craftsmanship to the mix.Echoing this is the NEO RUNNER, which while completely different in its form, also presents itself as a premium offering. Drawing heavily from the running shoes of the 1970s, this pair features panels made from satin nylon and suede, combining across the design alongside a compression-molded EVA midsole that darts forward and comes to a point at the toe while doing the inverse at the rear, which is fitted with an extended outsole. “ST” tread and a quarter stripe hark back to the archival ST Damarindo graphic, once again making a case for Sergio Tacchini’s blend of now and then.”Biscotti” and “Parchment” are vintage tones that decorate the PURE COURT, arguable Sergio Tacchini’s most subtle sneaker in the “Livello Rosso” collection. Like the NEO RUNNER, it too draws from ’70s cues, however, this pair features an elevated midsole and debossed details — as well as a branded plaque on the mid-panel — for the cleanest look thus far.And to round things off, Sergio Tacchini’s CUP SLIDE brings the heritage tennis and modern worlds together with its injected EVA comfort and style.Sergio Tacchini’s “Livello Rosso” collection can be seen in the lookbook above and is expected to launch globally at key retailers in February 2023.In other news, here are this week’s biggest footwear drops.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
