Release Info for the JJJJound x Salomon XT-Wings 2

UPDATE: JJJJound has officially announced its upcoming Salomon XT-Wings 2 collaboration. It’s slated to launch on June 1 exclusively on JJJJound web-store and Friday, June 2 on via Salomon and select retailers.ORIGINAL ARTICLE:JJJJound and Salomon are two of the most prolific collaborators in the greater street culture sphere today, but they’ve never worked together … until now. The Montreal-based masters of minimalism recently took to their Instagram to give us a first look at their first project with the French sporting company: a characteristically clean take on the XT-Wings 2.Originally released in 2011 as a high-performance trail runner with a chunky midsole (the same version that was used on the original XT-4) and a striking upper, the XT-Wings 2 was slimmed down and made much more subtle when it was reintroduced as a lifestyle silhouette, making it a perfect match for JJJJound’s tasteful tweaks. Only a single image of the collaborative design has been shown at the time of writing, but it shares a handful of key details like a custom JJJJound branding hit on the medial heel and a crisp color scheme that combines sail and bone tones with bright sport blue accents. View this post on Instagram A post shared by JJJJound (@jjjjound)The XT-Wings 2 is one of the more under-the-radar silhouettes in the Salomon Sportstyle lineup — it doesn’t boast the white-hot popularity of models like the XT-6 or the ACS Pro Advanced — but it’s likely to spike in popularity thanks to its newfound JJJJound association. It’s not unreasonable to think that this release could kick off a run of new XT-Wings 2 releases either: giving a silhouette some extra gas with an A-list collaboration, then following it with several in-line releases is a time-honored sneaker industry marketing maneuver, and Salmon recently employed it with Sandy Liang and the XT-6 Expanse.Currently, no release date or pricing information for the JJJJound x Salomon XT-Wings 2 has been announced. However, more details on the co-created sneaker should surface soon. While you wait to find out more about the release, check out Salomon Sportstyle marketing lead Bryan Diaz’s installment of Sole Mates.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
