Strap in, as Prada has just dropped a trio of sporty sandals fit for summer. Designed under Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada’s joint creative direction, the luxury house presents two sets of sandals — one made from padded Nappa leather, and another serving a sportier aesthetic thanks to its mix of leather and nylon tape.Kicking off with the Nappa pairs, we find the sandal in “Black” or “White” colorways and both are fitted with a clean amount of branding, marking its presence on the lateral front-quarter strap and on the insole. Per the brand, “These sporty sandals are the perfect expression of Prada’s ‘traveling man,’ for whom sophisticated tones and a sporty design mix in a new aesthetic dialogue.” And indeed they are sporty, as the pair receives a sole unit taken from Prada’s Cloudbust Thunder, thus giving the sandal a chunky, lugged attitude that’ll make the silhouette more versatile come fall and winter. As for the black sporty leather and nylon tape sandals, Prada presents a more understated tone that’s accentuated by the brand’s signature metal clip and nylon straps. Leather makes a subtle appearance, predominantly working the inner-angle straps, while nylon adds a tactile edge to the flatter-soled pair. Here, the only addition of Prada branding can be found on the insole, stamped in the house’s silver block cap font.Prada’s padded Nappa sandals retail for $1,220 USD, while the sporty nylon-equipped pair come in at $895 USD.
