Building on its recent capsule with Tommy Hilfiger, Amsterdam label Patta is now readying the release of its fifth collaboration alongside Diadora, this time revisiting the Italian brand’s N9000 silhouette. After its first link up in 2014 that saw the two labels pay homage to football’s Marco van Basten and Filippo Inzaghi, 2021 sees them celebrate another beloved athlete from the sport’s history: Christian “Bobo” Vieri. The former Italian striker is regarded as one of the best strikers in the history of Italian football, and at one point was the world’s most expensive football player when moved from Lazio to Inter Milan for €43 million. His nomadic football career was sponsored by Diadora during the early 2000s, in which he secured an abundance of silverware as well as being voted into the FIFA 100 — a list of the 125 best living football players.Paying homage to Vieri, the pair have reworked a sneaker first released in 1990 that was initially engineered with runners in mind. The N9000, thanks to its VIBRASSORB sole cushioning technology and EVA support, encapsulates the original sneaker’s features,, but adds more too.At the heel is “9” detailing presented in the style of Vieri’s famous jersey, alongside an upper composed of reverse nubuck suede, premium leather and a breathable nylon mesh. Held together by black stitching and classic gum sole, the shoe lives up to the luxury standard of Diadora’s running shoe range. The new Patta x Diadora N9000 will be available from April 303 via diadora.patta.nl, as well as in Patta London, Patta Milano & Patta Amsterdam. In other news, New Balance Tokyo Design Studio has modified the 574 with ridged soles.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
