Last week Paris brought the heat and I don’t just mean temperature-wise — I’m talking about the showstopping events that took place to celebrate Men’s Fashion Week.
One of these soirées that really left its (red) footprint, was the exclusive Highsnobiety x Louboutin SS23 party on Thursday. Honoring the debut of the men’s Spring-Summer collection and new line ‘Dune’, the brand didn’t hold back when it came to a full-on takeover of one of Paris’ most iconic landmarks.
Known as one of the city’s greatest cultural hubs, housing contemporary artwork, and exhibitions from some of the biggest names in the art world, past and present, the Centre Georges Pompidou was the home of Louboutin’s PFW festivities. Nestled at the top of the building lies Georges, the restaurant and rooftop terrace — and consider your jaw dropped when it comes to the breathtaking view of the whole city that the venue offers.
With Louboutin, we focused on the idea of turning the world upside down by turning it inside out, hence targeting the Pompidou which is known for placing its interior structure, pipelines and foundations on the outside façade of the building, rather than the inside. Guests took the tubular escalators built on a red concrete base up to the final floor, entering a futuristic red corridor that showcased the Dune collection, styles from the Our Angels capsule, and leather goods from Techno CL on varying color-coordinated plinths.
Taking inspiration from Christian Louboutin’s signature niche displays and building on the otherworldly atmosphere of the night, four aluminum panels formed a cocoon in the center of the space which accommodated the new hero shoe: the Dune lug sole.
Oh, and in case you forgot to jazz up your outfit with a touch of Louboutin rouge, the floor-to-ceiling bay windows were covered with a gradient red filter, with the soft haze mimicking an all-day sunset over the French capital.
Bringing together the worlds of underground clubbing culture and luxury fashion, a special lineup of musical acts graced the evening cocktail event. After sundown, the party kicked off in full gear with a live performance from London-based musician CKTRL, who is known for his unique way of mixing classical jazz with electronic beats. DJ sets from our very own Highsnobiety Soundsystem, Emma B, Kim Turnbull and Broodoo Ramses signed off the night in true upbeat style.
