With a seperate piece for every toe and a build that looks like a no-show sock with a sole, Vibram’s infamous FiveFingers is an undeniably unique piece of footwear. Now, after serving as the centerpiece of a wild Balenciaga collaboration it’s returned in an ecologically conscious “KSO Eco” makeup. The “KSO Eco” debuted in limited quantities during December 2020, and was crafted around an ethos of minimizing its environmental impact while still providing the same level of performance as the original FiveFingers.Uppers are constructed of sustainable hemp, a soft-yet-durable form-fitting material that wraps around the wearer’s foot and toes. Dark heather gray is the primary color used, though the collar, eyestays and heel each feature a medium gray overlay. A simple toggle lacing system provides enhanced fit as well.Down below, signature rubber outsoles are composed of a proprietary compound known as N-Oil. 90% or more of any N-Oil item’s construction is made of natural ingredients, without sacrificing flexibility or grip. These outsoles extend to the front of each toe to prevent stubbing, and the look is completed by familiar yellow Vibram branding on the tongue, heel, lateral forefoot and outsole. The Vibram FiveFingers “KSO Eco” is available now on the Vibram webstore in both men’s and women’s sizes. The MSRP is set at $110 USD.Need more footwear news? Fumito Ganryu and Suicoke Unveil New Urich Sandal Collaboration
After continuing his collaborative run with Salomon for a sneaker project built to withstand all terrain, Fumito Ganryu is now shifting gears to something more cozy to slip on: an Urich sandal partnership with Suicoke. This latest team-up serves as a follow up to when the two parties joined hands for a toothy Silicon Sandal back in May 2020.The motif for this joint venture is simple yet bold. A coral colorway dominates slip-on silhouette as it wraps the upper from front to back. The shape is left untouched and retains the traditional nylon taping and double straps that secure the bridge of the wearer’s foot. Branding, while minimal, is positioned in two places. A Suicoke hit is tonally debossed onto the lateral forefoot, while the Japanese designer’s moniker is printed across the diamond-textured EVA footbeds.Downstairs, the EVA outsole piece comes prepared with a beefy stature, and continues the single colored-theme by also dyeing itself in a bold coral hue.For those wanting to add these to your quarantine rotation, you can find these seeing a global launch on February 26, 2021 via Suicoke and select retailers. The MSRP is set at $225 USD.Elsewhere in footwear news, Suicoke’s farm-friendly SS21 capsule has been unveiled.
