size? and adidas Originals have continued their long-running exclusives series with the release of a famous sneaker from cinema history. Forming part of size?’s “The Lost Ones” releases, the new sneaker is a tribute to the footwear worn in Wes Anderson’s 2004 film The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and sees the Trimm Star silhouette transformed into an almost like-for-like reproduction.The adidas footwear worn in the film was originally limited to just 20 pairs, making it an instant collector’s item. For this reproduction, the Trimm Star sports a white base, complementing the blue detailing on the heel and Three Stripe branding, which alternate between “Oceanic Blue” and “Sky Blue.” Contrasted against this design are bright yellow laces, while the shoe also sports suede toe bumpers and gum soles.This is the first time that the sneaker has been reconstructed since 2017’s Rom Zissou, which was unveiled for the We Love Green festival in Paris, France. Joshua Vides has become a household name in the art space and widely recognized for delivering his signature cartoon-inspired, black and white design language to rooms, cars, clothes, sneakers and more. And to ring in the month of November, the talented creative is teaming up with New Balance for his inaugural footwear and apparel collection that’s inspired by his design process.In the sneakers department, Vides applies his crafty touch to a duo of lifestyle models: the 327 and the 57/40. The New Balance 327 features a stark black backdrop for its base and welcomes in splatters of white paint across the side panels. Underneath, the midsoles are formed with a natural white tone and come rounded out by a gum-colored waffle outsole. The 57/40 essentially makes use of the same color scheme but flips it in reverse. The angelic backdrop is complemented by thicker black outlines to mimic his artwork and is seated adjacent to all-over black blemishes.Dropping alongside the kicks are various apparel pieces including graphic tees, a pullover hoodie and shorts that are styled with similar elements.
