U.K.-based outdoors specialist Outsiders Store has launched a new collaboration with Chaco, putting its own spin on the Z/1 sandal silhouette. Dubbed the “Adventure Sandal,” the collaborative release builds on the silhouette’s reputation for durability and functionality, complete with a reference to British 4×4 vehicles.Designed following a visit to the Chaco archives, the collection also incorporates nods to the label’s early catalogs. The archival research also exposed facts about the Z/1’s design, and particularly its stripped-back aesthetic and focus on simplicity. Continuing this theme, Outsiders Store focused on the shoe’s detailing with the addition of a custom webbing design inspired by grills used to protect headlamps on 4x4s.The automotive influence continues onto the colorways, which are inspired by those classic colors and feature a “soft top”-inspired heel strap.
