Nike’s New Air Zoom Mercurial Wants to Make Players Move Quicker Than Ever

Nike has just unveiled the latest edition to the Mercurial family with the Air Zoom Mercurial football boot. Keeping things close to the ground and designed for the speedsters, the new model features an articulated three-quarter length Zoom airbag that sits directly inside the plate of the boot. New flex grooves have also been integrated to provide extra flexibility to enhance the natural movements of players who want to propel up the pitch. The Air Zoom Mercurial also welcomes a new “Tri-Star” stud pattern. It has been brought in to help footballers move laterally as well as downhill for quicker play in all directions. The upper also features an evolution of the “Vaporposite” entitled “Vaporposite+.” This improved technology combines a grip-enhancing chevron mesh with a Flyknit lining to help with ball control at quicker speeds.Crafted from 20% recycled content, Nike has ensured that it’s scaling of sustainable materials will be a significant step forward in the sportswear giant achieving its 2025 Impact target of creating solutions that are better for all athletes and the planet in the race against climate change. The Nike Air Zoom Mercurial will make its debut on the pitch during the all-women’s football tournament this summer and will be fronted by the likes of Ballon d’Or winner and UWCL Champion Ada Hegerberg. You can have a closer look at the boot above and it will be available to purchase on the official Nike website in the coming weeks. In other news, Sadio Mane has joined Bayern Munich after six years at Liverpool.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
