Nike SB Brings Running Technology to Skateboarding With Sandy ZoomX Bruin

After revealing Olympic federation kits and a series of special-edition collaborations, Nike SB has now unveiled its latest innovation ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. Dubbed the Sandy ZoomX Bruin, Nike has incorporated high-performance running technology into the world of skateboarding based on the label’s NEXT% program. The innovative new design is inspired by Sandy Bodecker — the influential Nike SB SV of Special Projects who passed away in 2018 — and his belief that skateboarding should be seen as an elite sport. Bodecker also passionately believed that skateboarding would one day be an Olympic sport. Bodecker’s influence is referenced through the sneaker’s name, and a graphic across the Flyknit upper that references Mark Smith’s portrait of Bodecker that hangs in The Bodecker Foundation space. The silhouette is based around the 1972 Nike Bruin sneaker, which has been updated with performance technology. As well as the Flyknit upper, the Sandy ZoomX Bruin sports a Nike ZoomX midsole and a full-length carbon plate. Further continuing the ZoomX influence, the tongue pays tribute to previous ZoomX silhouettes with the phrase “engineered to the exact specifications of world class skateboarders” printed across.Take a look at the Nike SB Sandy ZoomX Bruin in the gallery above, and keep an eye out for release details in the near future. As well as revealing this silhouette, Nike recently unveiled a new “Rawdacious” color palette for the Olympics.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
