Nike and its archives of 90s tech runners is rife with striking models, one being the Air Max 96 II which has been reintroduced to today’s sneaker generation by way of retro releases of its OG offerings such as the “Goldenrod” and “Comet Red”. Proceeding right along with more launches, the silhouette is now further advancing its catalog with a duo of collegiate-themed variations. The first rendition is titled the “Blackened Blue/Gym Red” makeup. As opposed to making use of the usual leather overlays, this version welcomes in denim materials that split between indigo blue across the mid-foot and heels and a faded black component that acts as the mudguard. Varsity-esque punches of “Gym Red” and yellow provide further contrasting hits across the Swooshes, mid-foot stripes, tongue branding and heightened heel overlays. Resting below all of this is a white foundational layer that deviates between a canvas from the toe box to the mid-foot and corduroy textures for the collars. The second option in this pack channels more of that school-inspired energy, but instead calls for a brighter color scheme. A beach-y beige tone is applied to the corduroy overlays and comes mated with a blue denim mudguard. More red and yellow accents arrive on the Swooshes here, the former of which this time serves as the background color while the former is pronounced with patch-like chenille textures. Tongues and laces are presented with a creamy skin, and come accented with green and yellow Air Max branding. Both of these Air Max 96 II pairs are slated to drop on June 1 through select retailers like Naked for $196 USD.For parties interested in more Nike news, the Nike Free Run Trail “Black/Anthracite” colorway is making a return to the shelves.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
