When Merrell and YMC collaborated on the Moab Slide 2 for S/S ’25, fashionistas agreed that they made a perfect pair. Inspired by that success, the outdoor brand and the London-based fashion brand have reunited on a new limited-edition collection.
The new Moab 2 Slide x YMC product comes in two shades of suede—black and dark walnut. They feature the slide’s trademark easy slip-on construction, a durable protective rubber toe cap, a leather footbed cover for a premium underfoot feel, and heels with Merrell Air Cushion to absorb shock and add stability. A Vibram Ecostep Recycle outsole features 30 percent recycled rubber for durability and grip on wet and dry surfaces.
Like the earlier YMC styles, the newcomers are meant to add panache to the Moab 2’s outdoorsy DNA through premium materials and finishes. The original YMC collaboration, which featured brushed suede in blue and charcoal, won praise for giving Merrell’s famously utilitarian slide an urban chic vibe that made it as functional and fashionable for city sidewalks as for rugged country trails.
“We have always admired how YMC approaches design with restraint, purpose, and intentionality,” says Noreen Naroo-Pucci, chief product officer at Merrell. “This second collaboration gives us the opportunity to revisit an iconic Merrell silhouette through a more refined lens, while keeping the comfort, utility, and outdoor credibility that make the Moab franchise so trusted.”
“Following on from our last collaboration with Merrell, we wanted to continue with our take on the Moab slide. The shoe is a style that I believe can integrate seamlessly into someone’s life who lives between the city and the outdoors, which so many of us do,” says Sage Toda-Nation, creative director at YMC. “The shoe feels like it fits just right into the YMC uniform. Merrell has always created shoes that stand the test of time and push innovation. It’s been a pleasure to bring this shoe to life together.”
The Merrell Moab 2 Slide x YMC will launch exclusively at ymc.com and YMC stores on September 11 (MSRP $150/£130/€150). It will be available on merrell.com and at select retailers starting September 21.
