Maison Margiela and Reebok’s collaborative effort continues to grow, as the duo has just quietly dropped its latest offering — a croafer. Somewhere between, you guessed it, a clog and a loafer, this pair arrives as part of the Spring/Summer 2022 collection and keeps up the collaboration’s momentum with a shoe that’s destined to divide opinions. The croafer is made using a 100% polyurethane upper that’s glued to a rubber sole unit which was lifted from Reebok’s own sneakers, the Zig Kinetica II and Zig 3D Storm. Between the two components are the signature Maison Margiela design details, notably stitches on the sidewalls in white denoting the house’s typically minimal manner of branding.Elsewhere, Maison Margiela x Reebok dual branding is embossed onto the rubbery uppers, while cut-outs on the side walls continue to elevate the pair’s aesthetic. Reebok’s Vector logo works the extended almond-shaped bumper toe, while a soft insole printed with the aforementioned dual branding rounds out the altogether simplistic style. So far, Maison Margiela’s Reebok Croafer has seemingly only dropped at one of London’s leading conceptual designer stores, Machine-A. It can be bought in-store or online for $840 USD.
