Dunkin’ and L.L.Bean hit the road this week in the Dunkin’ x L.L.Bean Bootmobile to promote a new collab between two of New England’s most beloved brands. The famous Bootmobile got a wardrobe refresh in the form of a Birdseye Sweater–inspired “upper” in Dunkin’s signature vivid pink and orange for the Maine-to-Massachusetts road trip, Sept. 21–Sept. 29, with stops at Dunkin’ restaurants along the way for photo ops with customers and gift card giveaways.
The tour serves as a mobile promotion vehicle (literally and figurately) for the pair’s first-ever collaboration, featuring an L.L.Bean Birdseye Sweater and Boat and Tote bag in Dunkin’s familiar color combo, both available online at L.L.Bean starting Sept. 29, National Coffee Day.
To kick it all off, the two companies created a coffee drink sleeve in the shape of a tiny pink-and-orange sweater, available free with any order of a hot or iced coffee of any size at select Dunkin’ locations on Sept. 21, the first official day of fall. The limited-edition gift proved as popular as the coffee it covered, according to media reports. Fans lined up, and the item sold out in minutes. A mini tote bag sized to hold a Dunkin’ coffee drops on the 29th and will be available for purchase at select Dunkin’s for $24.95.
“L.L.Bean and Dunkin’ are iconic brands that have called New England home for decades,” says Nick Wilkoff, chief marketing officer at L.L.Bean. “We wanted to create something that feels familiar and fun, bringing a touch of Dunkin’ to two L.L.Bean favorites that have been a part of people’s fall traditions for generations.”
“We love collaborations that feel authentic to the way people actually live,” says Jill Nelson, chief marketing officer at Dunkin’. “From morning coffee runs to weekends outside, Dunkin’ and L.L.Bean have been part of many of the same routines and traditions for decades. Bringing them together just felt right.”
We’re waiting to see what they’ll blend next. Could wearable Bold Magenta and Orange Passion Bean Boots be on the horizon?
