Beginning his sneaker career with adidas, the late Kobe Bryant has a storied history in footwear. In order to exit his contract with the Three Stripes early, he paid millions and was forced to remain unsigned until 2003. In this period before eventually signing with Nike, he wore a variety of brands and silhouettes — one of which being the Air Flight Huarache in Los Angeles Lakers-themed colorways. Over twenty years after appearing on NBA courts, the “Lakers Away” version of the silhouette is set to hit the market for the first time. Its color composition borrows the franchise’s “Varsity Purple” and “Del Sol,” placing the iconic colors beneath a dominant black hue. As for material composition, a mixture of neoprene, canvas and nubuck combine across the upper with yellow branding on the tongue and purple hits at the heel. Supporting the sneaker, a black sole unit sees purple and gold share a majority of the outsole. For those looking forward to the release of the Nike Air Flight Huarache “Lakers Away,” it’s currently expected to land on shelves this fall at a price of $125 USD via Nike and select retailers.Looking for more of the latest footwear news?
