Read the comments to pretty much any Air Jordan 1 release post, regardless of colorway, and you’ll see folks clamoring for the Swoosh to release a version we haven’t seen for years.
Usually the sneakerhead community is demanding a new ‘Chicago’ or ‘Banned’ drop, being that we haven’t seen those for five years.
But there are OG colorways that haven’t seen nearly as much fanfare as those black-and-red pairs too.
The Air Jordan 1 ‘Metallic Pack,’ which dropped in 1985, featured predominantly white AJ 1s with trim in four different colors: Red, Orange, Green and Purple.
The hits of metallic color on the collars, Wings logos, Swooshes, laces and outsoles contrasted the crisp white uppers to perfection, making for a gorgeous bright pair for the Summer.
The Metallic Red pair re-released in 2017 alongside a non-OG Metallic Navy version, but the other three haven’t been seen in production since. Well, not until 2021 at least.
The women’s-exclusive Air Jordan 1 ‘Court Purple’ is as close as you’re gonna get to the original version, with some upgraded materials and style to boot.
For all intents and purposes, this version is practically identical to the Men’s OG version. Purple metallic highlights touch the outsole, Wings logos and collar, popping off a gorgeous white leather upper.
But instead of a padded cotton collar, Jumpman has upped the ante with a smooth satin trim that adds a little luxury to what should be a favorite all summer long.
