Hender Scheme’s New MIP-25 Pays Homage to the Air Max 90

Hender Scheme recently revealed its summer/autumn 2021 collection, and one of the standout pieces from the master Japanese leather craftsmen is the MIP-25 — a homage to Nike’s Air Max 90. Though Hender Scheme produces everything from boots to sandals to quirky home goods, it’s most known for its MIP (Manual Industrial Projects) line, which apart from this AM 90 homage has offered handcrafted silhouettes that salute everything from the Air Force 1 Low to the Jack Purcell and the Air Jordan 4. What sets the MIP-25 apart from the rest of the Hender Scheme lineage, however, is that it’s the brand’s first Air Max-inspired sneaker. As is par for the course when it comes to the MIP series, the MIP-25 features an upper made fully of vachetta tan leather, one that replicates the Air Max 90’s signature heel badge, midfoot window and eyestays with textured leather pieces. Laces are done up in flat leather as well, and each piece is stitched together by hand. Even the midsole is incredibly detailed: a ridged leather flap sits where the 90’s cushioning unit would typically be placed, adding texture to the cobbler-style midsole. The Hender Scheme MIP-25 is set to release on the Hender Scheme webstore come June 12. Its MSRP has yet to be announced. For more from the world of footwear, take a look at Travis Scott’s forthcoming Nike Air Max 1 collaboration.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
