Brand: Fred Perry x G.H. Bass

Key Pieces: You can’t go wrong with a pair of classic black loafers. The shoes feature a thick, ridged commando out-sole rubber, while the leather in-sock is finished with a tartan trim lifted from Fred Perry’s classic Harrington jacket.
Release Date: April 26
Buy: Fred Perry and G.H. Bass
Editor’s Notes: Fred Perry and G.H. Bass have teamed up for an adaptation of the Weejun Loafer, optioned in burgundy and black with a tartan in-sole to complement Fred Perry’s distinctive color palette. The top layer has been reworked with a textural treatment in the style of Fred Perry’s signature piqué tennis shirts while a small wreath logo pokes out from the label on the heel.
As far as quality loafers go, G.H. Bass is not to be underestimated. Abiding by founder Henry Bass’ personal philosophy of making “the best possible shoe for the purpose for which it was intended,” the US-based shoe manufacturer introduced a penny loafer into the world in 1936. The design was inspired by a Norwegian farm shoe designed for “loafing in the field” – hence the name “Weejuns.”
As we’ve detailed before, the loafer can be an ideal compromise between laceless slip-on comfort and laid-back formality. If you need inspiration on how to style them, refer to Tyler, the Creator on his grocery run.
