eBay has officially acquired sneaker authentication service Sneaker Con. The deal further solidifies eBay’s existing relationship with the service and continues to grow the platform’s reputation in the footwear vetting process.The Verge reports that with every purchase of a sneaker over the price of $100 USD, eBay utilizes Sneaker Con to authenticate the shoes. At Sneaker Con, the shoes go through a slew of professionals and experts who can ensure that the pair matches the description of the listing and is an original shoe. After they have been vetted, eBay sends the buyer the shoe, which includes a tag that verifies its authentication.
