Diadora first debuted the Mythos 280 as part of its 2009 running catalogue, and now the classic running sneaker is set to see a re-release for the first time ever. Originally created in partnership with Gelindo Bordin — who won the marathon at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988, becoming the first-ever Italian distance runner to take gold in the event — the Mythos is an important part of brand history, even more so now that Bordin is Diadora’s marketing and merchandising director.Uppers are constructed from a retro silver and black mesh, one that’s accented with swooping heel and cut-out forefoot overlays. A signature Diadora logo appears on the midfoot, connected to the forefoot overlay for a unique look. Red hits are introduced on the heel and toebox, while tongues feature a special graphic that combines a golden Olympic wreath with an Italian flag and one more Diadora hit. Down below, EVA foam midsoles are reinforced with wavy red TPU plates, providing a blend of responsiveness and comfort. The Diadora Mythos 280 will release via the Diadora webstore come February 20, and is limited to a scant 600 pairs. A retail price has yet to be announced. For more footwear news, check out a new Under Armour runner that the brand says is its “fastest shoe yet.”Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
