Following the release of the SHADOW 6000 “Black Hole” sneakers in collaboration with Saucony, Shenzhen-based label and retailer COSTS works with artist kennyswork and ASICS to rework NBA star Isiah Thomas’ signature 1992 Gel-Spotlyte sneakers.Inspired by the coastal city’s connection to the sea and high-energy urban environment, the upcoming GEL-SPOTLYTE LOW “Diver” sneakers arrive in bright blue and orange with a diving compass logo on the heel. Continuing to pay homage to the pioneering city known as the tech hub of China, the laterals feature metallic accents on the ASICS stripes and collars. Rounding out the design are mismatched co-branding accents on the heel, stacked gray and white midsoles, and tri-tone rubber outsoles. The limited-edition pairs will be accompanied by an art toy titled Copperhead-18 from kennyswork which features similar color patterns. The diver sculpture serves as a symbol of innovation as well as a celebration of Shenzhen’s commitment to marine preservation. The COSTS x kennyswork x ASICS GEL-SPOTLYTE LOW “Diver” will be available at the COSTS website and retail channels in China on July 16 for ¥890 RMB (approximately $133 USD).Elsewhere in footwear, JJJJound and Padmore & Barnes reunite for P404 Original Boots.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
