Collegium Is Branching Out With Its New Pillar Penny Loafer

Nick Sisombath’s footwear label Collegium is going from strength to strength, and for its latest release, the L.A.-based brand has emerged from the realms of sneakers by entering a more formal sphere, introducing its Pillar Penny loafer. The Pillar Penny quietly dropped this weekend in “Nero” leather, “Cognac” suede, and “Terracotta” suede, with the very latter currently sold out in all sizes. But fear not, as the two former pairs are still up for grabs. So, what do you get with the Pillar Penny? Well, in Collegium’s usual form, the shoes are crafted from the finest soft Italian calf leather or suede, and feature a soft calf leather lining to boot. The whole shoe has been hand-stitched in Italy as per the brand’s signature construction approach, while a natural leather sole and compressed leather heel have been incorporated into the shoe’s design for a classic, yet elevated, touch. As for the design itself, it follows classic cues but is heightened using some core Collegium touchpoints. For example, the loafer’s throat has the standard “Penny” slot on the front tongue section, the sole unit is low-profile but still fitted with a heel, and the stitching looks very traditionally on-point.At the rear, we find a detachable Collegium-branded metal tassel, serving as a nod to tradition while bringing Collegium’s contemporary aesthetic into the picture. The Collegium Pillar Penny loafer in “Nero” and “Cognac” is available in a limited range of sizes on Collegium’s website now. It retails for $250 USD.In case you missed it, check out Nick Sisombath’s issue of Sole Mates.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
