Casablanca and New Balance have continued their collaborative relationship, with the Parisian label now taking on the XC-72 silhouette. Both of the two new colorways are described as “sports cars for your feet,” drawing on the “Grand Prix” theme that also ran throughout the label’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection.The two colorways are inspired by luxury cars, particularly the eye-catching vehicles often seen on the streets of Monaco. The first design sees the sneaker arrive in a mixture of orange and green, complete with tonal gray and white accents, referencing previous Casablanca x New Balance releases. For the second, the automotive influence is referenced through its red and yellow upper, and a black outsole unit inspired by racing tires.Launching the collection, Casablanca Creative Director Charaf Tajer and Art Director Stevie Grimes said, “From when we first started working on the collaboration, we dubbed it the “sports car for your feet” as it evokes that feeling of when you first saw a luxury car as a child, you knew it was a car.. but it was different to any car you’d seen before, it’s a feeling, a sense of wonder, designed to perform, designed to be special.”Take a look at the two colorways in the gallery above.
