Now, it looks to Barriers Worldwide which operates as a NYC-based brand that seeks to educate through style. The duo is launching a collection that details a historical journey, offering a voice to those that don’t have one. Drawing inspiration from The North Star, a 19th-century anti-slavery newspaper, the collection utilizes a star motif as a link to the story behind the capsule.The range includes both footwear and apparel options. Starting off with the collaborative sneakers, the Chuck 70 and Pro Leather each carry unique looks that feature vibrant contrast laces paired with cowrie shell lace dubraes. The shells were a universal form of currency that was especially relevant in ancient African societies. In addition, apparel options are comprised of a t-shirt, shorts and hoodie. Each piece utilizes Barriers branded elements and the star motif.Release for the Barriers x Converse collection is set for July 21 via Barriers, Converse and select retailers worldwide. The pricing breakdown starts at $55 USD for the t-shirt, $85 USD for the shorts and $120 USD for the hoodie.
