Adidas’ Brutalist ’90s Orketro Runner Arrives in London-Ready “Bliss/Cloud White/Bright Blue”

From brutalist industrial design to the lightweight running sneakers of the ’90s, the adidas Orketro has references in abundance. Up until today, the pair was available in just one OG colorway — “Bright Blue/Carbon” — and now, following on from a collaborative teaser from Sean Wotherspoon, two new general release colorways have been dropped: “Pyrite/Mesa” and “Bliss/Cloud White/Bright Blue.”Like the pair that came before, these two offerings evidently draw from brutalist architecture, specifically in these predominantly tonal colorways. The “Pyrite/Mesa” version combines washed out yellow tones with metallic gold detailing on the toe box, an element that wraps around the shoe to give it that signature ’90s aesthetic, while the “Bliss” iteration gives nods to a pair of shoes built for the city — perhaps London.Regardless of the colorway you choose, the Orketro comes with a mesh upper that’s decorated with asymmetrical suede Three Stripes working the lateral front-quarter, and more TPU piping across the mid-panel and vamp. Naturally, 3M details are added, as is an adiPRENE, adiWEAR, FORMOTION, and Torsion-equipped sole unit, which should come together to make one of the most comfortable sneakers around.adidas’ Orketro, seen in “Pyrite/Mesa” and “Bliss/Cloud White/Bright Blue,” can be bought from adidas stores and online now for £120 GBP (approx. $142 USD).
