Piece by piece, Samuel Ross is making a fully A-COLD-WALL lifestyle a reality as his collaborative portfolio expands to encompass more and more brands. Never one to be boxed in, the designer’s arsenal boasts everything from concert structures to luxury watches – yet it’s footwear where Ross has spread his wings the furthest.
First appearing online earlier in the summer, Samuel Ross’ latest footwear collaboration arrives courtesy of Timberland. Joining an exciting line-up of co-creative partners that includes Nike (Air Force 1, Zoom Vomero 5), Dr. Martens (1460, 1461), and ROA (Andreas, Minaar), Timberland brings its popular 3-Eye Classic Lug shoe to the table.

An interesting choice for a Timberland collaboration when so many flocks to the 6inch Boot when it comes to putting their stamp on the brand, but Samuel Ross is no stranger to doing things differently, putting himself into the thick of any challenge.
Judging by the images posted by Ross on his Instagram earlier this week, the shoe has evolved in the months since we first had eyes on it. While the original look featured a fabrication that looked hard-wearing, perhaps Cordura, it definitely looked like a sample version.
Eyeballing the close-ups in the selection of images provided shows that the shoe has received a massive Gorpcore-certified boost thanks to the addition of GORE-TEX across an upper that looks to be crafted from some sort of ripstop material.
So far, two colorways have been showcased – a deep navy blue with black accents and silver hardware and an entirely silver-grey render, again with silver hardware.
It’s worth noting that the caption reads that these are final prototypes, so they’ll likely be further refinement before these reach the market. When this will be is unsure, but here’s hoping for FW22.
