Since the beginning of its rollout, Barbie has dominated the mainstream. New music, memes and makeovers have kept the upcoming film in the conversation with its climax — the film’s actual release — rapidly approaching. Naturally, companies have done what they can to capitalize on this by embracing the world of pink. For Nike, it seems to have had the movie on its mind when designing this pink colorway of the Air Max Scorpion.Launching last year, the elevated silhouette continues to operate as a go-to premium lifestyle sneaker for the Swoosh. Now, it dons an all-pink rendition that includes its Flyknit-chenille upper accented by black Swooshes. Adding to its Barbie aesthetic, stars have been added to the lateral Swoosh’s tail and sockliner that features a new Nike script that matches the tongue. While Nike has yet to disclose any release details regarding this pink colorway of the Air Max Scorpion, it’s expected to land on shelves very soon to capitalize on the Barbie hype. Look for it to become available via the Swoosh and select retailers in the coming weeks at a price of $250 USD.Looking for more of the latest news from the footwear industry? We’ve got you covered. JJJJound Unveils Hospitality-Themed Vault by Vans Collab
Last month, JJJJound did what it does best — tease a quick glimpse at a project, this time with Vans, and enjoy the immediate hype (and critique) surrounding it. Leading with the reveal of a simple, yet tasteful Sk8-Mid VLT LX, the brand successfully got the conversation started, only to continue it the next week with an all-white Classic Slip-On VLT LX. Now, following a reveal of another monochromatic white take on the Authentic VLT LX, the brand has officially revealed the forthcoming project.Centered around a French court footwear aesthetic, the three shoes have been crafted to be a convenient option to integrate into a subtle uniform — particularly for those in hospitality. Tapping local businesses in Montréal, the home of JJJJound, each design sees itself paired with a uniform. Looking closer at the kicks themselves, minimal branding from JJJJound is combined with subtle adjustments in material composition and detailing.Release for the complete JJJJound x Vault by Vans collection is scheduled to begin on July 20 via JJJJound at 12pm EDT. Following this, Vans will host the release of the three shoes alongside select retailers on July 29.
