Martine Rose Previews Her Upcoming Clarks “Coming up Roses” Collection

Martine Rose’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection transported London to the beating heart of Great British community, culture and nightlife, mixing the kind of garments ’90s ravers would wear to community center lock-ins with the shirt from your dad’s wardrobe. The result was a collection only Rose could produce, heavy on the nuanced understanding of what style really means. And with that, the designer also took the opportunity to debut her upcoming collection as Clarks’ first-ever guest Creative Director. The SS24 collection, titled “Coming up Roses,” is a spin on familiar classics. For Rose, these styles include The Oxford and The Loafer, which have been given a reworking that falls well within the designer’s spectrum. Her eponymous brand’s shoes and loafers are often subversive, ranging from styles that are bulbously round to others decorated in snakeskin prints or buckles. Likewise, the “Coming up Roses” loafer style has been turned into a chunky wedge heel, and while it does maintain the signature Penny strap across the vamp, it blends into the design thanks to an all-encompassing snakeskin design, found in pink, brown, or green. The Oxford can also be seen in the snakeskin takes, but shows off its details best in black. We find a sort of puffy worn-in design that’s split between a toe cap, a middle section, and the lace compartment, all of which are defined by stitching that manipulates the shape of the shoe.Martine Rose’s first Clarks collection can be previewed in the gallery above. Runner Completes Marathon Wearing MSCHF Big Red Boots

Shortly after the announcement of a restock coming for the MSCHF Big Red Boots, a runner shared a video showing themselves finishing a marathon wearing the viral shoes. YouTubers The Buttery Bros, Heber Cannon and Marston Sawyers, recently completed the Hell on the Hill, a running event put on by the first man to bear crawl a marathon. But what makes the video stand out is the fact that the fitness content creators known in the CrossFit space completed the marathon wearing the MSCHF Big Red Boots.Documenting their experience, Heber Cannon is seen stepping into MSCHF’s Big Red Boots to tackle the half marathon. The Hell on the Hill is comprised of 60 laps up and down a hill, accumulating 4000 ft of elevation, but adding the massive shoes made the difficult task even more difficult. Weighing 3.5 lbs each, the Big Red Boots offered an interesting challenge, acting as ankle weights and bulbous footwear. Facing cut-up shins, a point in the video shows serious doubts about being able to complete the marathon in the shoes.Watch The Buttery Bros video showing the first person to finish a half marathon wearing the MSCHF Big Red Boots above. In case you missed it, Rose Anvil recently shared a dissection of MSCHF’s Big Red Boots.
