Nike Expands Its Jackie Robinson Catalog With This Air Force 1 Low Colorway

Famous in the sports realm for breaking down baseball’s racial barrier and becoming the first African American to play in the MLB, Jackie Robinson is being celebrated once more thanks to another footwear initiative by Nike. In 2022, the Swoosh honored his legacy via a Dunk Low and Air Griffey 1 Cleat, and now the brand is adding an Air Force 1 Low “Jackie Robinson” installment to its repertoire. For this latest iteration, Nike designers outfit the kicks with a myriad of baseball-inspired details. The most noticeable is the red “42” hit that is positioned on the lateral heel which calls out his jersey number along with the exposed stitches that mimic a baseball and run down the heel. “Racer Blue” accent are thrown onto the Swooshes, Nike-branded heel overlays and the tongues, the latter of which swap out the usual Nike icons for the Brooklyn Dodgers logo. Laces enhance the sneakers with an inspirational element as they come printed with all-over “Change the World” spell-outs, and they arrive laced through copper loops. Lace deubres split between “1947” to represent the year he broke the color barrier on the left shoe and “1956” to salute the year he retired on the right. And to round everything off, the bottoms are done up in baseball diamond dirt-esque brown with black speckle details.Look for Nike and other retailers to launch these in the coming weeks for $120 USD.Elsewhere in sneakers, images of the Nike Air Max 1 Premium “Treeline” have appeared.

Tiffany & Co. Crafts a Special Silver Shoebox to Celebrate Its Nike Air Force 1 Collab

When it comes to crossover collaborations, you can leave it to Tiffany & Co. to go the extra mile. It recently teamed up with Nike to introduce a duo of Air Force 1 collaborations — one of which released to the public while the other was made for friends and family — and to celebrate the initiative even further it has crafted a special, one-of-one silver shoebox. The luxury jewelry label crafted the storage piece by hand in its Rhode Island hollowware workshop. Artisans spent meticulous hours and time — 155 hours to be exact — to bring the piece to life as the design process required a sizable amount of cutting, branding and polishing. It’s made from durable .925 silver and weighs out to 23 pounds. The part that is meant to store the shoes comes styled with silver on the exterior while the interior is done up with a fitting Tiffany blue paint job. The lid bears a tonal Swoosh logo that rests on top while the Tiffany & Co. moniker is hosted on the inside. You can check out a closer look at how the piece was developed in the video below. An iconic union between two legendary brands. The Nike/Tiffany Air Force 1 1837 shoebox was handcrafted by Tiffany artisans who employed age-old silversmithing techniques to bring this incredible sterling silver shoebox to life.
