Nike Brings Back the Zoom Vomero 5 in “Oatmeal”

Nike introduced the Zoom Vomero 5 to the sneaker world in 2010 and has weaved it in and out of its annual rotation. Last released in 2020, the runner makes its 2022 debut in an “Oatmeal” look with a midsole finish that is reminiscent of the weathered A-COLD-WALL* x Nike Zoom Vomero +5 colorways that brought the silhouette back into the game starting in 2018.This time around, Nike’s “Oatmeal” flavors land in a mix of “Oatmeal/Pale Ivory-Sail-Light Chocolate.” The Zoom Vomero 5’s mesh base carries the signature color, matching its leather and plastic overlays. Hits of light blue arrive at the lacing system and forefoot portion of the rubber outsole while “Light Chocolate” accents the midsole and the remainder of the outsole. Nike Cushlon technology can be found at the weathered beige midsole, supporting the vintage aesthetic. Reflective linework outfits the toe and heel counter to complete the look.Release for the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Oatmeal” is expected to take place by the end of the year via Nike and select retailers at a price of $160 USD. Take an official look at the colorway above and keep an eye out for more Zoom Vomero 5 colorways to surface in the coming months. In other footwear news, a snowy colorway of the Nike Zoom GT Cut 2 is on the way.

Doctor Doom Lands on the adidas Stan Smith

When considering adidas’ most notable collaborators, Kanye West tends to be one of the first names that come to mind. However, mass media and entertainment company Disney dwarves most of its peers in outreach. As key franchises such as Star Wars and Marvel have been utilized on adidas silhouettes annually, ranging between subtle references to all-out thematic looks. Now, in continuation of its partnership, Disney’s Marvel universe has connected with the Three Stripes once again, this time bringing Doctor Doom to the Stan Smith. While Doctor Doom hasn’t officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he lands on the adidas Stan Smith in a colorway similar to the shoe’s original white and green colorway. An off-white leather upper carries silver “DR. DOOM” text on the midfoot of the lateral while a matching silver portrait of Doom hits the left shoe’s tongue. The sneaker also fits into adidas’ Primegreen category with the upper featuring at least 50% recycled content, referenced on the heel with “it’s not easy being green” text.adidas has yet to share an official release date for the Disney x Marvel x adidas Stan Smith “Doctor Doom.” Look for it to hit shelves in the coming months via the Three Stripes and select retailers at an expected price of $130 USD.Elsewhere in the world of footwear, yet another slip-on footwear option is coming from adidas with the adidas Originals Puffylette, reminiscent of padded jackets.

New Balance Dresses the 550 in Dusty Pink Suede

As New Balance continues to expand the 550 family, they’ve moved away from its standard leather construction to experiment with alternate materials. The throwback, low-cut, ultra-popular basketball-turned-lifestyle model has experimented with CORDURA via a size? collaboration, been coated with canvas as a part of the “Conversations Amongst Us” pack, been bolstered by nubuck via a UNITED ARROWS-exclusive release and even hit with real meteor fragments (though that was a custom). Now, it’s continuing its growth by taking on a dusty pink suede upper.A women’s-sized release, this 550 gives off almost as many skate shoe vibes as it does hoop shoe vibes due to its new material composition. The pink used is an autumnal hue, dusty and earthy instead of bubblegum-esque, and it’s accented by hits of white and sail. Finishing off the look are familiar branded hits and a 550 graphic on the lateral forefoot overlay, a signature detail from the 1989 sneaker that designer Steven Smith — then a fresh-faced graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, now the head of Ye’s new Donda Industrial Design imprint — took inspiration from automotive design language for.Look for this women’s New Balance 550 to touch down in the coming weeks. Assuming its price isn’t raised due to its alternate materials, it should retail for $110 USD.For more on that new New (Balance), check out the AURALEE x New Balance 2002R.
