View this post on InstagramA post shared by Social Status (@thesocialstatus)Regarding collaborative projects, Nike has displayed a penchant for selecting partners with authentic stories to tell. In the streetwear space, no one arguably does it better than James Whitner and his team over at The Whitaker Group, which is why the Swoosh has reprised its partnership with Social Status for another collection. To end the Summer with a bang, the duo is linking up for an Air Max Penny 2 “Playground” collaboration which is essentially a sequel to their Air Max Penny 1 capsule that released earlier in the season.Social Status has prepared two takes of the classic hoops silhouette for this assemblage, both of which are nods to two of its original makeups. One pair is devised with a “Black/White” color palette while the other is styled with a “White/Blue” ensemble to pay homage to the legacy and heritage of Penny Hardaway. Each offering is set with premium leather uppers and come accessorized with metal hang tags and Social Status x Nike special project insignias, and they come housed within Lil Penny toy-inspired special edition shoe boxes. The “Black/White” pair is treated with pink-tinted Air units which are symbolic of children’s love for bubblegum on the playgrounds. To accompany the announcement, Social Status has put together a short film titled after the collaboration’s namesake that tells a playful story of a 1-on-1 basketball matchup between a young James and Dez. The piece is directed by the Turner Brothers — Julien and Justen Turner — and features comedic performances by comedian Lou Young and a returning cast of young actors. The The Social Status x Air Penny 2 “Playground” in “Black/White” launches first and will be available via local in-store raffles at every Whitaker Group store, a General Raffle on the Social Status’ website and a TWG Discord Member-Only Draw all opening on September 20. Release info for the white iteration is expected to be announced at a later date. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Social Status (@thesocialstatus)For other news, Nike Air Foamposite One “Dream a World” official images have emerged.

Air Jordan 1 Low Elevate Gets Hit With a “Lucky Green” Getup

One cheeky sneaker method that Michael Jordan’s imprint will indulge in is utilizing the color palettes of his basketball rivals to create newer footwear colorways. His iconic battles against Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics have been immortalized through various “Lucky Green” Jordan iterations. The motif has been seen on models like the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG and the Air Jordan 13, and now the Air Jordan 1 Low Elevate is being cooked up with the same presentation. Its shamrock-like, titular hue does most of the talking here as it wraps the upper half’s overlays and the treading down below. Neutral contrasting arrives by way of white accents that sprinkle towards the toe boxes, quarter panels and the chunky platform midsoles. Solid black notes then follow as they land on the laces, tongues and Swooshes while the interior liners are done up with a soft beige hue. Insoles have been adorned with parquet patterns to channel the look of the hardwood court TD Garden, and special ankle chains that include a Jumpman logo, shamrock, “23” logo and “1986” charms come packaged with the shoes.Official images of the pair can be seen in the gallery above, and you can find Nike and select retailers dropping these in the coming weeks. For other sneaker news, an Air Jordan 1 Utility “Neutral Olive” makeup has been revealed.
