Mizuno’s “Bareclutch” Shoes are Made for Driving
Arriving as a departure from the lifestyle, sportswear, and outdoor footwear silhouettes currently prevalent on the market, Mizuno introduces a new low-top “Bareclutch” sneaker made for a direct pedal feel when driving and comfortable city walking. Jointly developed with Japanese automaker Mazda, the offering features a thin Mizuno COB sole which provides efficient cushioning as well as a more direct feeling on the pedal.Rounded soles allow for better heel rotation and a bigger contact area between the sole and floor surface while treaded bottoms offer improved grip. Found in a clean monochrome build with soft artificial leather uppers, the pairs can be worn for various occasions. The Mizuno “Bareclutch” shoes will be available in “White,” “Black,” and “Blue” September 20 on Mizuno’s website and at select retailers.Elsewhere in footwear, Nike’s Latest Air Max 97 celebrates the Father of Air technology.
no-brainer* Presents Nike Dunk Low “Bumblee” Concept
After introducing a wildly popular pair of conceptual “Fujiwara Tofu Shop” Dunk Lows inspired by the Toyota AE6 Trueno in Initial D, no-brainer* has been following up with several automotive-inspired Nike footwear concepts. The creations draw from Japanese Bōsōzoku motorcycle culture, custom low riders, Tyler, the Creator’s pink Call Me If You Get Lost car, the Suzuki Ninja from A Moment of Romance, and now the Volkswagen Beetle from Bumblebee (2018).Arriving in a more minimalist design compared to previous decal-heavy iterations, no-brainer* dresses the pairs in a faded yellow base with hints of black along the collars, laces, and tongue tabs. Reflecting the aesthetics of the Transformer which posed as a yellow desert buggy, the shoes emulate the much-in-need-of-a-wash aesthetic with pre-distressed streaks of sand. Silver Swooshes run along the laterals and the Autobots logo is printed on the heel counter. Rounding out the design are sandy white midsoles and black rubber outsoles.Take a closer look at the inspirations behind the concept below and find more of no-brainer*’s designs on his Instagram.
