Crocs and its official collaborators have been thinking outside the box lately with new introductions such as tote bags and stilettos with Balenciaga to belt-bag clogs with MCM. However, never has the label seen the unlikely combination of Crocs cleats, until now.Ahead of training camp, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy Junior reached out to visual artist Sean Vergara for custom footwear ideas. Vergara had already thought of the Crocs cleat ideas before their conversation, and with murphy being a self-proclaimed “Crocs guy,” the concept was realized.”Anytime I get a chance to go beyond just painting, it’s always fun, and that’s always some of my favorite ones,” commented Vergara.The pairs were made using Murphy’s Nike cleats which Vergara dyed Cardinal yellow. Vergara then went to Dick’s Sporting Goods in search of a strap to make the pairs as similar as possible and ended up finding that a toddler-sized croc fit the design the best. He then measured out and replicated the hole size of a real pair of Crocs onto the cleats. The entire process reportedly took over 20 hours to make.”They’re on fire,” Murphy said per ESPN. “I posted them on my Instagram. They kinda blew up. I gotta get more colors though. That’s what I’m gonna do. Following the reveal of other “Anniversary Edition” Air Force 1s including the return of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “West Indies” and “Little Accra” colorways, Nike continues to celebrate 40 years of Bruce Kilgore’s iconic silhouette with a playful new “Chili Pepper” iteration dressed in “Lemon Wash” and “University Red” hues.The upcoming pairs arrive in a mix of red suede uppers and cream-colored leather overlays. The toebox features a gradient yellow to red fade and heel tabs are decorated with bold Nike Air embroidery in black. Additional details include special “Anniversary Edition” text on the tongue tabs, green mesh lining, and chili pepper motifs on the lateral heel counter and insoles. After receiving multiple looks at the highly-anticipated sacai x Nike Cortez 4.0 “OG”, the official images for the alternate grayscale colorway have now emerged. The upcoming pairs arrive on the 50th anniversary of Bill Bowerman’s Cortez silhouette and feature sacai’s signature twinned design found across its other Nike footwear collaborations such as the Blazer Low and VaporWaffle.Uppers arrive in a nylon base with double-stacked suede panels on the heel and overlapping Swooshes on the laterals. Nike and sacai co-branding is featured on the white leather heel tabs, laces arrive in duos, and double-layered collars tease both GR and collaborative tongue tabs.
