Balenciaga’s Paris Sneaker “BB Monogram” Deviates From Distressing

Demna’s Balenciaga Paris Sneaker broke the Internet when it first appeared in its $1,850 USD “Destroyed” form, let alone ones that sported a pre-worn aesthetic. Now, Balenciaga is bringing the pair back with a “BB Monogram” refresh, looking cleaner than ever before. While the sneaker is divisive, its popularity — and newsworthiness — rode on the pair’s distressed aesthetic. For the new “BB Monogram” iteration, Balenciaga crafts the pair from a jacquard polyester-cotton upper that’s decorated all over with the aforementioned logomania. Sure, a washed effect does make for a slightly worn look, but the detailing is far neater than pairs that have come before it.Here, you’ll find a light amount of dirtying to the rubber toe cap and frequently throughout the sole unit’s design, while house cues like branding on the toe and sizing on the heel can be prominently seen. Dirtied laces are perhaps the most anti-fashion part of the sneaker, while a darkened tan vulcanized outsole rounds the pair off.Balenciaga’s Paris Sneaker in the “BB Monogram” design can be yours for $850 USD. Take a look at the pair above and pre-order it online now.In case you missed it, check out this week’s issue of Sole Mates, which spotlighted Hebru Brantley and his adidas Originals Forum collaborations.
